Hifenac SR Tablet contains Aceclofenac 200mg, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used primarily for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal disorders such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. Aceclofenac exerts its therapeutic effect by selectively inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX), thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins which are mediators of inflammation and pain.

The sustained-release formulation of Hifenac SR ensures prolonged drug release, allowing for once or twice-daily dosing, which enhances patient compliance and maintains consistent plasma drug levels. This medication is indicated for managing acute and chronic pain conditions including postoperative pain, dental pain, and soft tissue injuries. It is generally well tolerated but should be used with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal ulcers, bleeding disorders, renal or hepatic impairment, and cardiovascular diseases.
Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, dizziness, and rash. Hifenac SR should be administered under medical supervision, and patients are advised to report any signs of hypersensitivity or adverse reactions promptly. It is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to aceclofenac or other NSAIDs, and during the third trimester of pregnancy due to potential fetal risks.
