It is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, otitis media, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and uncomplicated gonorrhea caused by susceptible strains of bacteria. Cefixime acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. The dry syrup formulation is intended for pediatric use, offering ease of administration and accurate dosing. After reconstitution, Hicef 100 Dry Syrup should be stored as per guidelines and used within the recommended period to maintain efficacy.
