Hexzone 1gm Injection contains Ceftriaxone 1000mg, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with broad-spectrum bactericidal activity. It is indicated for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections including lower respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, septicemia, bone and joint infections, and meningitis.

Ceftriaxone exerts its effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. The drug is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and Escherichia coli. Hexzone 1gm Injection is administered via intramuscular or intravenous routes, with dosage and duration tailored according to the severity and type of infection, as well as patient-specific factors such as renal and hepatic function.
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or penicillins. Common adverse effects may include local injection site reactions, gastrointestinal disturbances, and hypersensitivity reactions. Caution is advised in patients with a history of allergy or renal impairment.
