HBHep 5000/5ml Injection contains Heparin 5000 IU per 5 ml, an anticoagulant used to prevent and treat thromboembolic disorders. Heparin acts by potentiating the activity of antithrombin III, thereby inhibiting thrombin and factor Xa, which results in the prevention of fibrin clot formation. This injection is indicated for the prophylaxis and treatment of venous thromboembolism, pulmonary embolism, myocardial infarction, and during extracorporeal circulation procedures such as hemodialysis and cardiac surgery.

HBHep 5000/5ml Injection is administered via intravenous or subcutaneous routes, with dosing individualized based on the patient’s clinical condition and coagulation parameters, typically monitored by activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT). Caution is advised in patients with bleeding disorders, severe hypertension, or recent surgery. Adverse effects may include bleeding, thrombocytopenia, hypersensitivity reactions, and osteoporosis with prolonged use.
Contraindications include active bleeding, severe thrombocytopenia, and hypersensitivity to heparin. This product should be used under strict medical supervision with appropriate monitoring to minimize risks and ensure therapeutic efficacy.
