Hardclav Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 500 mg, Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, and Lactobacillus 60 million spores per tablet. Amoxycillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic, exerts bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, effectively treating a wide range of susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative infections. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Amoxycillin by preventing enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic, thereby overcoming resistance in beta-lactamase producing bacteria.

The inclusion of Lactobacillus, a probiotic, helps maintain and restore normal intestinal flora during and after antibiotic therapy, reducing the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhea and other gastrointestinal disturbances. Hardclav is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and other bacterial infections where beta-lactamase producing organisms are suspected.
It should be used under medical supervision, with dosage adjusted according to the severity of infection and patient factors. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins or cephalosporins. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort, diarrhea, and hypersensitivity reactions.
