Halpod-CV Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefpodoxime Proxetil 200 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, designed for the treatment of a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefpodoxime Proxetil, a third-generation cephalosporin, exhibits bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, thereby effectively targeting both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Cefpodoxime by preventing enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thus extending its spectrum of activity against resistant strains. Halpod-CV is indicated for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media caused by susceptible organisms. The combination is particularly useful in treating infections where beta-lactamase-producing bacteria are suspected or confirmed. It is administered orally, with dosing adjusted based on the severity of infection and patient factors such as renal function. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, hypersensitivity reactions, and alterations in liver enzymes. Caution is advised in patients with a history of penicillin or cephalosporin allergy. Halpod-CV should be used under medical supervision to ensure appropriate use and to minimize the development of antibiotic resistance.
