Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of cefpodoxime by preventing enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic, thereby extending its spectrum to beta-lactamase producing resistant strains. Gudcef-CV is indicated for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media caused by susceptible organisms.
The oral suspension formulation allows for easy administration, particularly in pediatric and geriatric populations. Dosage and duration should be determined based on the severity of infection, patient age, and renal function. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort. Hypersensitivity reactions, though rare, require immediate medical attention.
