Gudcef-CV 100mg Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefpodoxime Proxetil 100mg and Clavulanic Acid 62.5mg, designed to treat a variety of bacterial infections. Cefpodoxime Proxetil, a third-generation cephalosporin, exhibits broad-spectrum bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, effectively targeting both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Cefpodoxime by preventing enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby overcoming resistance mechanisms. This combination is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media caused by susceptible organisms. Gudcef-CV is administered orally and is generally well tolerated; however, it should be used with caution in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to beta-lactam antibiotics. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort.
