Gracepod-O Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefpodoxime Proxetil 200 mg and Ofloxacin 200 mg, designed for the treatment of a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefpodoxime Proxetil, a third-generation cephalosporin, acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death, while Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby preventing DNA replication and transcription. This synergistic combination enhances antimicrobial efficacy against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, including strains resistant to monotherapy. Gracepod-O is indicated for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and sexually transmitted infections caused by susceptible organisms. The tablet is administered orally, with dosage and duration tailored according to the severity and type of infection, as well as patient-specific factors. It is essential to complete the full prescribed course to prevent the development of resistance. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, and hypersensitivity reactions.
