GLZ Plus Tablet contains a combination of Gliclazide 80 mg and Metformin 500 mg, indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly in patients inadequately controlled by diet and exercise alone. Gliclazide, a sulfonylurea class hypoglycemic agent, stimulates pancreatic beta cells to release insulin, thereby reducing blood glucose levels. Metformin, a biguanide, improves insulin sensitivity by decreasing hepatic glucose production and enhancing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. The synergistic action of these two agents helps achieve better glycemic control by targeting different pathophysiological mechanisms of type 2 diabetes. GLZ Plus is recommended as part of a comprehensive diabetes management plan, including diet modification, exercise, and regular monitoring of blood glucose. It is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal or hepatic impairment, and conditions predisposing to hypoxia.
