Glyxambi 10mg/5mg Tablet is a fixed-dose combination medication containing Empagliflozin 10mg and Linagliptin 5mg, indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control in adults. Empagliflozin, a selective sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, reduces renal glucose reabsorption, thereby promoting urinary glucose excretion and lowering blood glucose levels. Linagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, enhances incretin hormone levels, leading to increased insulin secretion and decreased glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. The combination provides complementary mechanisms of action, resulting in improved glycemic control compared to monotherapy. Glyxambi is administered orally once daily, with or without food. It is particularly beneficial for patients inadequately controlled on diet and exercise alone or those requiring additional glycemic management alongside other antidiabetic agents.
