Glytrin-Met 1000 Tablet is a fixed-dose combination medication containing Metformin 1000 mg and Teneligliptin 20 mg, indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily acts by decreasing hepatic glucose production and improving insulin sensitivity, thereby enhancing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. Teneligliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, increases endogenous incretin levels, which in turn stimulate insulin secretion and suppress glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner.

The combination of these two agents provides complementary mechanisms to achieve better glycemic control in patients inadequately controlled on monotherapy or lifestyle interventions alone. Glytrin-Met 1000 Tablet is typically administered orally once or twice daily with meals to minimize gastrointestinal side effects commonly associated with Metformin. It is essential to monitor renal function prior to and during treatment, as Metformin is contraindicated in patients with significant renal impairment due to the risk of lactic acidosis.
Teneligliptin is generally well tolerated, with a low risk of hypoglycemia when used in combination with Metformin. This combination therapy should be used as part of a comprehensive diabetes management plan including diet, exercise, and regular monitoring of blood glucose levels.
