Glymedus PM 2mg/500mg/15mg Tablet is a combination oral antidiabetic medication containing Glimepiride 2mg, Metformin 500mg, and Pioglitazone 15mg, indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea, stimulates pancreatic beta-cell insulin secretion, thereby reducing blood glucose levels. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily decreases hepatic glucose production and improves peripheral insulin sensitivity, enhancing glucose uptake by muscle tissues. Pioglitazone, a thiazolidinedione, acts as an insulin sensitizer by activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ), which improves insulin responsiveness in adipose tissue, muscle, and the liver. The combined action of these agents addresses multiple pathophysiological defects associated with type 2 diabetes, providing better glycemic control than monotherapy. Glymedus PM is indicated for patients inadequately controlled on diet, exercise, and monotherapy or dual therapy with these agents.
