Glurest PM 1 Tablet is a combination oral antidiabetic medication containing Glimepiride (1 mg), Metformin (500 mg), and Pioglitazone (15 mg), indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. This formulation acts through complementary mechanisms to improve glycemic control. Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea, stimulates pancreatic beta cells to enhance insulin secretion. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily reduces hepatic glucose production and improves peripheral insulin sensitivity, thereby lowering fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels.

Pioglitazone, a thiazolidinedione, enhances insulin sensitivity in adipose tissue, muscle, and the liver by activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ). The combined action of these agents provides effective control of hyperglycemia in patients inadequately managed by monotherapy or dual therapy. Glurest PM 1 Tablet is typically prescribed alongside diet and exercise modifications.
