Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea class agent, enhances pancreatic insulin secretion, thereby reducing blood glucose levels. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily decreases hepatic glucose production and improves peripheral insulin sensitivity, contributing to better glucose uptake and utilization. Voglibose, an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor, delays carbohydrate absorption from the gastrointestinal tract, mitigating postprandial hyperglycemia. The synergistic action of these three agents targets multiple pathophysiological defects in type 2 diabetes, providing comprehensive glycemic management. Glucowin-MV 2 Tablet SR is indicated for patients inadequately controlled on diet and exercise alone or on monotherapy and is particularly beneficial in reducing fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels.
