Metformin, a biguanide, primarily acts by decreasing hepatic glucose production and improving peripheral insulin sensitivity, contributing to better glucose uptake and utilization. Voglibose, an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor, delays carbohydrate absorption from the gastrointestinal tract, attenuating postprandial hyperglycemia. The synergistic action of these three agents targets multiple pathophysiological defects in type 2 diabetes, facilitating improved fasting and postprandial blood glucose control.
Glucowin-MV 1 Tablet SR is indicated as adjunctive therapy to diet and exercise when monotherapy or dual therapy has proven insufficient. It should be used under medical supervision with regular monitoring of blood glucose, renal and hepatic function. Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, hepatic dysfunction, or risk of lactic acidosis. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, hypoglycemia, and mild allergic reactions.

Glucowin-MV 1 Tablet SR is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
