Metformin, a biguanide, primarily acts by decreasing hepatic glucose production and improving peripheral insulin sensitivity, contributing to enhanced glucose uptake and utilization. Voglibose, an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor, delays carbohydrate absorption from the gastrointestinal tract, resulting in reduced postprandial hyperglycemia.
