Glibenclamide, a sulfonylurea class drug, stimulates pancreatic beta cells to enhance insulin secretion, thereby lowering blood glucose levels. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily acts by decreasing hepatic glucose production, improving insulin sensitivity, and enhancing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization.
