Gluconorm-Z XR Forte 60 Tablet is a combination oral antidiabetic medication containing Gliclazide 60 mg and Metformin 1000 mg, indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Gliclazide, a sulfonylurea class agent, stimulates pancreatic beta-cell insulin secretion, thereby improving glycemic control. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily reduces hepatic glucose production and enhances peripheral insulin sensitivity, contributing to improved glucose uptake and utilization.

The extended-release (XR) formulation ensures a sustained therapeutic effect, facilitating once-daily dosing and enhancing patient compliance. Gluconorm-Z XR Forte is prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise to achieve optimal blood glucose levels in patients inadequately controlled by either agent alone. It is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, metabolic acidosis, or hypersensitivity to its components.
Caution is advised in patients with hepatic dysfunction, cardiovascular disease, or conditions predisposing to hypoxia, as these may increase the risk of lactic acidosis. Regular monitoring of blood glucose, renal function, and hepatic parameters is recommended during therapy. Adverse effects may include hypoglycemia, gastrointestinal disturbances, and, rarely, lactic acidosis.
Dose adjustments should be individualized based on therapeutic response and tolerability. Gluconorm-Z XR Forte 60 Tablet offers an effective dual mechanism approach for improved glycemic control in type 2 diabetes management.

How to use Gluconorm-Z Tablet ER Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Gluconorm-Z XR Forte 60 Tablet is to be taken with food.

Gluconorm-Z XR Forte 60 Tablet is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

Gluconorm-Z XR Forte 60 Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
