Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea, stimulates pancreatic beta cells to increase insulin secretion, thereby reducing blood glucose. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily decreases hepatic glucose production and enhances peripheral glucose uptake and utilization, improving insulin sensitivity. Voglibose, an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor, delays carbohydrate absorption from the intestine, leading to a reduction in postprandial hyperglycemia. The sustained-release formulation ensures a gradual release of active ingredients, promoting stable plasma drug concentrations and minimizing gastrointestinal side effects commonly associated with metformin and voglibose.
