Metformin, a biguanide, primarily decreases hepatic glucose production and improves peripheral insulin sensitivity, contributing to enhanced glucose uptake and utilization. Gliclazide, a sulfonylurea derivative, stimulates pancreatic beta-cell insulin secretion, aiding in the reduction of fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels. Glizid-MV is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise for improving glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled by monotherapy or dual therapy. Caution is advised in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, and contraindications include type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, and hypersensitivity to any component.
