It contains Glibenclamide 2 mg, Metformin 500 mg, and Pioglitazone 15 mg, each contributing distinct mechanisms to optimize glycemic control. Glibenclamide, a sulfonylurea, stimulates pancreatic beta cells to enhance insulin secretion. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily reduces hepatic glucose production and improves peripheral insulin sensitivity, thereby lowering basal and postprandial blood glucose levels. Pioglitazone, a thiazolidinedione, acts as an insulin sensitizer by activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ), improving glucose uptake in adipose tissue and muscle. The sustained-release formulation ensures prolonged therapeutic effect, promoting better patient compliance and stable plasma drug concentrations. Gliris-MP 2 is indicated for patients inadequately controlled on monotherapy or dual therapy, aiming to achieve target glycemic levels and reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications.
