Glimzab MP 1mg/500mg/15mg Tablet SR is a combination oral antidiabetic medication containing Glimepiride 1mg, Metformin 500mg, and Pioglitazone 15mg. This formulation is designed for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly in patients inadequately controlled on monotherapy or dual therapy. Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea, stimulates pancreatic beta-cell insulin secretion, thereby reducing blood glucose levels. Metformin, a biguanide, improves insulin sensitivity by decreasing hepatic glucose production and enhancing peripheral glucose uptake. Pioglitazone, a thiazolidinedione, acts as an insulin sensitizer by activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ), improving insulin action in adipose tissue, muscle, and the liver.
