Pioglitazone, a thiazolidinedione, acts as an insulin sensitizer by activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ), which modulates the transcription of insulin-responsive genes involved in glucose and lipid metabolism. The sustained-release formulation ensures a gradual release of active ingredients, promoting stable plasma concentrations and reducing dosing frequency, thereby enhancing patient compliance.
Glimy-MP 2 is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled on monotherapy or dual therapy.
