How It Works
Pioglitazone activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ), enhancing insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism.
Glimepiride stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and enhances insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, facilitating glucose uptake and lowering blood sugar levels.
Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production and enhances peripheral insulin sensitivity, lowering blood glucose levels.

Glimy-MP 1 Tablet SR is a combination oral hypoglycemic agent formulated to improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Each sustained-release tablet contains Glimepiride 1 mg, Metformin 500 mg, and Pioglitazone 15 mg, which work synergistically through complementary mechanisms to regulate blood glucose levels. Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea, stimulates pancreatic beta cells to increase insulin secretion.

Metformin, a biguanide, decreases hepatic glucose production and enhances peripheral insulin sensitivity, while Pioglitazone, a thiazolidinedione, improves insulin sensitivity in adipose tissue, muscle, and the liver by activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ). This combination is indicated for patients inadequately controlled on diet, exercise, and monotherapy with either agent alone.
The sustained-release formulation ensures a gradual release of active ingredients, promoting better tolerability and adherence by minimizing gastrointestinal side effects commonly associated with Metformin. Glimy-MP 1 Tablet SR should be administered under medical supervision with regular monitoring of blood glucose, renal and hepatic function. It is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal or hepatic impairment, and hypersensitivity to any component.
Dose adjustments may be necessary based on clinical response and tolerability.

Glimy-MP 1 Tablet SR is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

Glimy-MP 1 Tablet SR should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Glimy-MP 1 Tablet SR may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Use of Glimy-MP 1 Tablet SR is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.
