Glimy-MP 1 Tablet SR is a combination oral hypoglycemic agent formulated to improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Each sustained-release tablet contains Glimepiride 1 mg, Metformin 500 mg, and Pioglitazone 15 mg, which work synergistically through complementary mechanisms to regulate blood glucose levels. Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea, stimulates pancreatic beta cells to increase insulin secretion. Metformin, a biguanide, decreases hepatic glucose production and enhances peripheral insulin sensitivity, while Pioglitazone, a thiazolidinedione, improves insulin sensitivity in adipose tissue, muscle, and the liver by activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ). This combination is indicated for patients inadequately controlled on diet, exercise, and monotherapy with either agent alone. The sustained-release formulation ensures a gradual release of active ingredients, promoting better tolerability and adherence by minimizing gastrointestinal side effects commonly associated with Metformin. Glimy-MP 1 Tablet SR should be administered under medical supervision with regular monitoring of blood glucose, renal and hepatic function. It is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal or hepatic impairment, and hypersensitivity to any component.
