Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea class agent, stimulates pancreatic beta cells to enhance insulin secretion. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily reduces hepatic glucose production and improves peripheral insulin sensitivity, thereby lowering blood glucose levels without causing significant hypoglycemia. Voglibose, an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor, delays carbohydrate absorption in the intestines, attenuating postprandial hyperglycemia.
