Metformin, a biguanide, primarily acts by decreasing hepatic glucose production, enhancing peripheral glucose uptake, and improving insulin sensitivity. This dual mechanism addresses both insulin secretion and insulin resistance, making Glimestar-M2 Forte effective in achieving optimal blood glucose levels in patients inadequately controlled by diet and exercise alone. The prolonged-release formulation ensures a steady plasma concentration, reducing the risk of hypoglycemia and gastrointestinal side effects commonly associated with immediate-release metformin.
