Glilar M2 Tablet ER is a combination oral antidiabetic medication containing Glimepiride 2mg and Metformin 500mg extended-release. It is indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly in patients whose blood glucose levels are inadequately controlled by diet, exercise, and monotherapy. Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea class agent, stimulates pancreatic beta cells to release insulin, thereby enhancing insulin secretion. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily acts by decreasing hepatic glucose production and improving peripheral insulin sensitivity, resulting in better glycemic control.
