Geripod 8 Tablet contains Silodosin 8 mg, a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist primarily indicated for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Silodosin works by selectively blocking alpha-1A adrenergic receptors in the smooth muscle of the prostate and bladder neck, leading to relaxation of these muscles and improvement in urine flow, thereby reducing symptoms such as urinary frequency, urgency, nocturia, and weak stream. Geripod 8 is administered orally, typically once daily with a meal to enhance absorption and minimize gastrointestinal side effects. It is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, significant hepatic dysfunction, or known hypersensitivity to Silodosin or any component of the formulation. Caution is advised when co-administered with other alpha-blockers or antihypertensive agents due to the potential risk of hypotension. Common adverse effects include dizziness, retrograde ejaculation, and nasal congestion, which are generally mild and transient.
