GeneVac-B is indicated for individuals at risk of hepatitis B exposure, including healthcare workers, patients with chronic liver disease, individuals with multiple sexual partners, and those requiring long-term hemodialysis. The vaccine is administered intramuscularly, typically in a three-dose schedule at 0, 1, and 6 months, to achieve optimal immunogenicity. It is contraindicated in individuals with a history of hypersensitivity to any vaccine component.
Common adverse reactions include mild injection site pain, erythema, and low-grade fever, which are generally transient. Immunization with GeneVac-B provides effective protection by inducing anti-HBs antibodies, thereby preventing acute and chronic hepatitis B infection and its complications such as cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Proper storage between 2°C and 8°C is essential to maintain vaccine potency.
