Genericart Metformin Hydrochloride 500mg Tablet contains metformin hydrochloride, an oral antihyperglycemic agent used primarily in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Metformin belongs to the biguanide class and acts by decreasing hepatic glucose production, decreasing intestinal absorption of glucose, and improving insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization.

This multifaceted mechanism helps to achieve better glycemic control without causing significant hypoglycemia when used as monotherapy. Genericart Metformin Hydrochloride 500mg is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It may be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic agents, including insulin. The tablet should be administered with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort, which are common during initial therapy.
Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, hepatic dysfunction, or conditions predisposing to hypoxia or lactic acidosis. Regular monitoring of renal function is recommended to mitigate the risk of lactic acidosis, a rare but serious adverse effect. Dose adjustments may be necessary based on clinical response and tolerability. Genericart Metformin Hydrochloride 500mg Tablet offers an effective and well-established option for glycemic management in type 2 diabetes.
