Diclofenac (25mg/ml)
Active composition
Diclofenac inhibits COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, leading to decreased synthesis of prostaglandins, which mediate pain and inflammation.
Medical applications
ESGIPYRIN DS INJECTION contains Diclofenac sodium at a concentration of 25 mg/ml, a potent nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) widely used for its analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties. This injectable formulation is indicated for the management of acute pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal disorders, postoperative pain, and other conditions where oral administration is not feasible or rapid onset of action is required. Diclofenac exerts its therapeutic effects primarily through the inhibition of cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, leading to decreased synthesis of prostaglandins, which are mediators of inflammation and pain. ESGIPYRIN DS INJECTION should be administered intramuscularly or intravenously under medical supervision, with dosage tailored according to the severity of symptoms and patient response. Caution is advised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal ulcers, bleeding disorders, cardiovascular diseases, renal or hepatic impairment, and hypersensitivity to NSAIDs. Common adverse effects may include injection site pain, gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, and dizziness. Due to the risk of serious cardiovascular and gastrointestinal events, the lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest duration necessary. ESGIPYRIN DS INJECTION is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to diclofenac or other NSAIDs and during the third trimester of pregnancy.
