Erox CV 457 Dry Syrup is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 400 mg and Clavulanic Acid 57 mg per 5 ml of reconstituted suspension. Amoxycillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic, exerts bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and some Gram-negative organisms. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Amoxycillin by preventing enzymatic degradation by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending the antimicrobial spectrum. This synergistic combination is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, otitis media, sinusitis, skin and soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections, and dental infections caused by susceptible organisms. Erox CV 457 Dry Syrup is particularly useful in infections where resistance to Amoxycillin alone is suspected due to beta-lactamase production. The dry syrup formulation allows for accurate dosing in pediatric and adult patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets. It should be reconstituted with the specified amount of water before administration and stored as per guidelines. Therapy duration should be determined by the severity and site of infection, and it is essential to complete the full prescribed course to prevent resistance development.
