Sulbactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Meropenem by preventing the degradation of the antibiotic by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending its spectrum of activity. The inclusion of EDTA serves as a chelating agent, potentially disrupting bacterial biofilms and enhancing antimicrobial penetration. Eroms-DT EDTA Injection is indicated for complicated intra-abdominal infections, complicated urinary tract infections, hospital-acquired pneumonia, and other severe infections caused by susceptible organisms.
The combination is particularly useful in treating infections caused by multidrug-resistant strains. Dosage and administration should be guided by the severity of infection, renal function, and susceptibility patterns. Adverse effects may include hypersensitivity reactions, gastrointestinal disturbances, and potential alterations in hematologic parameters.
