Clavulanic Acid (125mg) + Amoxycillin (500mg)
Active composition
+1 more active ingredient
Amoxycillin inhibits the synthesis of peptidoglycan in bacterial cell walls, leading to cell lysis and death.
Medical applications
Eraclav 625 Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg. Amoxycillin is a broad-spectrum penicillin-class antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that prevents enzymatic degradation of Amoxycillin by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending its antibacterial spectrum. This synergistic combination is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, including strains resistant to Amoxycillin alone. Eraclav 625 is indicated for the treatment of various infections such as respiratory tract infections (including sinusitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, and dental infections. The tablet should be administered orally, preferably at the start of a meal to enhance absorption and reduce gastrointestinal discomfort. Dosage and duration of therapy should be determined based on the severity and type of infection, renal function, and patient response. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Hypersensitivity reactions may occur in penicillin-sensitive individuals. Use with caution in patients with a history of liver dysfunction. Eraclav 625 should be used under medical supervision to ensure appropriate use and to minimize resistance development.
