Zycolchin Tablet contains Colchicine 0.5 mg, an alkaloid used primarily for the treatment and prophylaxis of gout flares and familial Mediterranean fever (FMF). Colchicine exerts its therapeutic effect by disrupting microtubule polymerization, thereby inhibiting neutrophil motility and activity, which reduces inflammation caused by urate crystal deposition. Zycolchin is indicated for the management of acute gout attacks, prevention of recurrent gouty arthritis, and reduction of FMF-related inflammatory episodes. It is also utilized off-label in certain inflammatory conditions such as pericarditis. Common side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain; these are dose-dependent and can be mitigated by dose adjustment.
