Zonaxid Tablet contains Nitazoxanide 500mg, an antiparasitic and antiviral agent used primarily for the treatment of protozoal infections and certain viral illnesses. Nitazoxanide exhibits broad-spectrum activity against intestinal parasites such as Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium parvum, as well as anaerobic bacteria and some viruses by interfering with the pyruvate:ferredoxin oxidoreductase enzyme-dependent electron transfer reaction essential to anaerobic metabolism.

Zonaxid is indicated for the management of acute diarrhea caused by protozoal infections and has demonstrated efficacy in reducing the duration and severity of symptoms. The tablet is administered orally, with dosage and duration tailored according to the specific infection and patient characteristics. Common adverse effects are generally mild and may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, abdominal pain, and headache.
Caution is advised in patients with known hypersensitivity to Nitazoxanide or any excipients.
