Miconazole (2% w/v) + Fluocinolone acetonide (0.01% w/v)
Active composition
+1 more active ingredient
Miconazole inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, compromising fungal cell membrane integrity and leading to cell death.
Fluocinolone Acetonide binds to glucocorticoid receptors, modulating gene expression and inhibiting the inflammatory response.
Medical applications
Zole-F Lotion is a topical dermatological preparation containing Fluocinolone acetonide 0.01% w/v, a potent synthetic corticosteroid, combined with Miconazole 2% w/v, a broad-spectrum antifungal agent. This formulation is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory dermatoses complicated by fungal infections, such as tinea corporis, tinea cruris, and candidiasis, where both anti-inflammatory and antifungal actions are required. Fluocinolone acetonide exerts anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects by modulating the release of inflammatory mediators, thereby reducing erythema, edema, and itching. Miconazole acts by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes, leading to increased membrane permeability and fungal cell death. Zole-F Lotion should be applied topically to the affected area twice daily or as directed by a healthcare professional. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation, untreated bacterial infections, or viral skin infections such as herpes simplex. Caution is advised in prolonged use or application over large surface areas to minimize potential systemic absorption and corticosteroid-related adverse effects. Common side effects may include local irritation, burning sensation, or dryness. Use during pregnancy and lactation should be under medical supervision.
