Aspirin (75mg) + Atorvastatin (10mg)
Active composition
+1 more active ingredient
Aspirin irreversibly inhibits COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, leading to decreased production of thromboxane A2 and prostaglandins.
Atorvastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, decreasing cholesterol synthesis and promoting LDL receptor activity.
Medical applications
Zocovas ASP 10mg/75mg Capsule is a combination medication containing Atorvastatin 10mg and Aspirin 75mg, indicated for the prevention of cardiovascular events in patients at high risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Atorvastatin, a potent HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, effectively lowers low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and total cholesterol levels, thereby reducing the risk of coronary artery disease, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease. Aspirin, an antiplatelet agent, inhibits cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), leading to decreased thromboxane A2 production and reduced platelet aggregation, which helps prevent thrombus formation. The combined effect of lipid-lowering and antiplatelet action makes Zocovas ASP suitable for secondary prevention in patients with a history of myocardial infarction, unstable angina, or ischemic stroke, as well as for primary prevention in high-risk individuals. The recommended dosage should be individualized based on patient risk factors and tolerability. Caution is advised in patients with active bleeding, hepatic impairment, or hypersensitivity to salicylates or statins. Regular monitoring of liver function tests, lipid profile, and signs of bleeding is recommended during therapy. Zocovas ASP should be used under medical supervision to optimize cardiovascular risk management.
