Miconazole (2% w/w) + Neomycin (0.5% w/w) + Clobetasol (0.05% w/w)
Active composition
+2 more active ingredients
Miconazole inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, compromising fungal cell membrane integrity and leading to cell death.
Neomycin binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, inhibiting protein synthesis and leading to bacterial cell death.
Clobetasol binds to glucocorticoid receptors, inhibiting the transcription of pro-inflammatory genes and reducing inflammation.
Medical applications
Zincoderm-GM Neo Cream is a topical formulation combining Clobetasol propionate (0.05% w/w), Miconazole nitrate (2% w/w), and Neomycin sulfate (0.5% w/w), designed for the treatment of inflammatory and infectious dermatological conditions. Clobetasol, a potent corticosteroid, exerts strong anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects, effectively reducing erythema, edema, and itching associated with various dermatoses. Miconazole, an imidazole antifungal agent, inhibits ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes, providing broad-spectrum activity against dermatophytes, yeasts, and other fungi responsible for superficial mycoses. Neomycin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic, offers bactericidal action primarily against gram-negative bacteria by inhibiting protein synthesis, thereby preventing or treating secondary bacterial infections. The combination cream is indicated for mixed infections where inflammatory, fungal, and bacterial components coexist, such as infected eczema, dermatitis, and other complicated skin infections. Zincoderm-GM Neo Cream should be applied topically in a thin layer to the affected area, typically twice daily, under medical supervision. Prolonged use or application over large body surfaces should be avoided due to potential systemic absorption and adverse effects. Patients should be advised to discontinue use if irritation or hypersensitivity reactions occur. This combination therapy offers a comprehensive approach to managing complex dermatological infections with inflammatory involvement.
