Gentamicin (0.1% w/w) + Clobetasol (0.05% w/w)
Active composition
+1 more active ingredient
Gentamicin binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, inhibiting protein synthesis and leading to bacterial cell death.
Clobetasol binds to glucocorticoid receptors, inhibiting the transcription of pro-inflammatory genes and reducing inflammation.
Medical applications
Zincoderm-G Cream is a topical formulation combining Clobetasol propionate (0.05% w/w), a potent corticosteroid, and Gentamicin sulfate (0.1% w/w), an aminoglycoside antibiotic. This combination is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory dermatoses complicated by or at risk of secondary bacterial infections. Clobetasol exerts strong anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects by modulating the inflammatory response and suppressing immune activity in affected skin areas. Gentamicin provides broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens, thereby preventing or treating secondary infections commonly associated with inflammatory skin conditions. Zincoderm-G Cream is typically prescribed for conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and other steroid-responsive dermatoses where bacterial infection is present or suspected. The cream base allows for effective skin penetration and localized action with minimal systemic absorption when used as directed. Application should be limited to affected areas, avoiding prolonged use to reduce the risk of corticosteroid-related adverse effects such as skin atrophy, telangiectasia, and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis suppression. Patients should follow medical advice regarding duration and frequency of use, and discontinue if irritation or sensitization occurs. Zincoderm-G Cream offers a dual therapeutic approach for managing inflammatory skin disorders complicated by bacterial infection.
