Zilotat Tablet

Zilotat is prescribed for patients who have not responded adequately to conventional urate-lowering therapies or those who are intolerant to allopurinol. The recommended dose is typically 40 mg once daily, which may be adjusted based on serum uric acid levels and clinical response. Febuxostat is metabolized primarily in the liver and excreted via renal and hepatic pathways; therefore, caution is advised in patients with hepatic or renal impairment.

Common adverse effects include liver function abnormalities, nausea, rash, and headache. Patients should be monitored periodically for liver enzymes and serum uric acid levels during therapy. Zilotat should be used under medical supervision, with attention to potential drug interactions and contraindications, including hypersensitivity to febuxostat and concomitant use with azathioprine or mercaptopurine.
