Oxcarbazepine (600mg)
Active composition
Oxcarbazepine inhibits sodium channels, stabilizing neuronal membranes and reducing seizure activity.
Medical applications
Zenoxa 600 Tablet contains Oxcarbazepine 600 mg, an anticonvulsant medication primarily indicated for the treatment of epilepsy. It is utilized as monotherapy or adjunctive therapy in managing partial seizures with or without secondary generalization in adults and children aged four years and older. Oxcarbazepine acts by stabilizing hyperexcited neural membranes, inhibiting repetitive neuronal firing, and reducing synaptic impulse propagation through blockade of voltage-sensitive sodium channels. This mechanism helps in controlling seizure activity and preventing seizure recurrence. Zenoxa 600 Tablet is also employed off-label for certain mood disorders such as bipolar disorder, due to its mood-stabilizing properties. The drug is generally well-tolerated, but common adverse effects may include dizziness, somnolence, headache, nausea, and hyponatremia. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to carbamazepine or oxcarbazepine, as cross-reactivity may occur. Regular monitoring of serum sodium levels is recommended, especially during the initial treatment phase. Dose adjustments may be necessary in hepatic or renal impairment. Zenoxa 600 Tablet should be administered under medical supervision, with adherence to prescribed dosing regimens to optimize therapeutic outcomes and minimize potential side effects.
