Rosuvastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, decreasing cholesterol synthesis in the liver and increasing LDL receptor expression.
Clopidogrel irreversibly inhibits the P2Y12 component of ADP receptors on platelets, preventing platelet activation and aggregation.
Medical applications
Zenostin-CV Capsule IR is a combination pharmaceutical formulation containing Rosuvastatin 20 mg and Clopidogrel 75 mg, designed for the management of cardiovascular conditions. Rosuvastatin, a potent HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, effectively lowers low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and triglycerides while modestly increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), thereby reducing the risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
Clopidogrel, an antiplatelet agent, irreversibly inhibits the P2Y12 component of ADP receptors on platelet surfaces, preventing platelet aggregation and thrombus formation. This combination is indicated for patients at high risk of cardiovascular events, including those with a history of myocardial infarction, stroke, or established peripheral arterial disease, where both lipid-lowering and antiplatelet effects are warranted.
Zenostin-CV Capsule IR is administered orally, with dosing tailored to individual patient profiles and clinical response. The fixed-dose combination enhances patient compliance by simplifying therapy. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic impairment, bleeding disorders, or concomitant use of other anticoagulants. Regular monitoring of liver function tests, lipid profiles, and platelet counts is recommended to ensure therapeutic efficacy and safety.
Adverse effects may include myalgia, gastrointestinal disturbances, and increased bleeding risk. Zenostin-CV Capsule IR should be used under strict medical supervision.
