Active composition
Ulipristal Acetate acts as a selective progesterone receptor modulator, inhibiting ovulation and altering endometrial receptivity.
Medical applications
Yuliprist Tablet contains Ulipristal acetate 5 mg, a selective progesterone receptor modulator indicated primarily for emergency contraception and the management of uterine fibroids. Ulipristal acetate acts by inhibiting or delaying ovulation, thereby preventing fertilization when administered within 120 hours after unprotected intercourse or contraceptive failure. Additionally, it modulates progesterone receptors in uterine fibroid tissue, leading to a reduction in fibroid size and associated symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding and pelvic pain.
Yulipristal is administered orally and should be taken as a single dose for emergency contraception or as prescribed for fibroid treatment. It is contraindicated in pregnancy and in patients with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or any excipients. Common adverse effects include headache, nausea, abdominal pain, and fatigue, which are generally mild and transient.
Caution is advised in patients with hepatic impairment, and use during breastfeeding should be avoided. Yulipristal acetate does not protect against sexually transmitted infections. Patients are advised to consult healthcare professionals for appropriate use and to consider follow-up evaluations for fibroid management. Proper adherence to dosing guidelines ensures optimal efficacy and safety of Yulipristal Tablet.
