Rosuvastatin exerts its effect by selectively inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis, thereby decreasing hepatic cholesterol production and upregulating LDL receptors to enhance clearance of LDL particles from the bloodstream. Wonvas 10 Tablet is prescribed as part of a comprehensive treatment plan including diet, exercise, and lifestyle modifications to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as myocardial infarction, stroke, and the need for coronary revascularization in patients with established atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease or those at high risk.
The recommended dose is individualized based on patient response and risk profile, with regular monitoring of lipid levels and liver function tests advised during therapy. Caution is warranted in patients with hepatic impairment, renal dysfunction, or a history of muscle disorders.
