Alcohol consumption should be limited while taking ticagrelor. Alcohol can increase the risk of gastrointestinal irritation and bleeding, which may be exacerbated by the antiplatelet effects of the medication. It is best to avoid heavy drinking to minimize the risk of serious bleeding complications during your treatment.

Ticagrelor should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. There is limited human data regarding its safety. Consult your obstetrician and cardiologist to weigh the risks of cardiovascular events against the potential risks of the medication during pregnancy.

Ticagrelor generally does not affect your ability to drive. However, if you experience side effects such as dizziness or lightheadedness, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you feel fully alert. Ensure you are not experiencing any symptoms that could impair your focus or physical coordination.

Use with caution in patients with moderate hepatic impairment. Ticagrelor is not recommended for patients with severe liver disease, as the drug is extensively metabolized by the liver. Increased drug levels could lead to a significantly higher risk of bleeding complications in patients with impaired liver function.

It is not known if ticagrelor is excreted in human breast milk. Because of the potential for serious adverse reactions in the nursing infant, breastfeeding is generally discouraged while taking this medication. Discuss alternative feeding options or medication adjustments with your healthcare provider if you are currently breastfeeding.

No dosage adjustment is necessary for patients with renal impairment. However, patients with severe kidney disease should be monitored closely for any signs of bleeding. The drug is not removed by dialysis, so it remains effective even in patients who are undergoing regular hemodialysis for kidney failure.
