Rosuvastatin (10mg)
Active composition
Rosuvastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, decreasing cholesterol synthesis in the liver and increasing LDL receptor expression.
Medical applications
Onrose 10mg Tablet contains Rosuvastatin, a potent lipid-lowering agent belonging to the statin class, indicated for the management of hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. Rosuvastatin acts by selectively inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis, leading to a significant reduction in low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and total cholesterol levels, while modestly increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). Onrose 10mg is primarily prescribed to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as myocardial infarction, stroke, and angina in patients with elevated cholesterol levels or established cardiovascular disease. It is also beneficial in patients with primary hyperlipidemia and familial hypercholesterolemia. The tablet should be administered orally, once daily, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day to maintain consistent plasma levels. Dosage adjustments may be necessary based on patient response and tolerability. Common adverse effects include headache, myalgia, abdominal pain, and nausea, while rare but serious effects such as myopathy and hepatotoxicity require monitoring of liver enzymes and creatine kinase levels. Onrose 10mg should be used cautiously in patients with hepatic impairment or a history of muscle disorders and is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.
