Esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, suppresses gastric acid secretion by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system in gastric parietal cells, thereby promoting healing of erosive esophagitis and managing gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The sustained-release mechanism ensures prolonged therapeutic plasma concentrations, enhancing efficacy and patient compliance by reducing dosing frequency.

Oncarbi-DP is indicated for patients requiring combined prokinetic and acid suppression therapy, particularly in conditions such as GERD with delayed gastric emptying, functional dyspepsia, and peptic ulcer disease. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to either component, significant hepatic impairment, or concurrent use of medications that prolong the QT interval.

Caution is advised in patients with cardiac arrhythmias or electrolyte imbalances. Adverse effects may include headache, dry mouth, abdominal cramps, and rare extrapyramidal symptoms.
