Domperidone, a peripheral dopamine D2 receptor antagonist, facilitates gastric motility and accelerates gastric emptying, providing symptomatic relief from nausea, vomiting, and bloating associated with delayed gastric emptying and gastroparesis. Esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, suppresses gastric acid secretion by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system in gastric parietal cells, thereby promoting healing of erosive esophagitis and managing gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The sustained-release mechanism ensures prolonged therapeutic plasma concentrations, enhancing efficacy and patient compliance by reducing dosing frequency.
