Omecept 20 Capsule contains Omeprazole 20 mg, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) indicated for the treatment of various acid-related gastrointestinal conditions. Omeprazole acts by selectively inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system located on the gastric parietal cell surface, thereby suppressing gastric acid secretion. This reduction in gastric acidity promotes healing of erosive esophagitis, peptic ulcers, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Omecept 20 is also effective in the management of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and in the eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection when used in combination with appropriate antibiotics. The capsule formulation ensures targeted delivery to the intestines, minimizing degradation in the stomach and enhancing bioavailability. Omecept 20 is generally well tolerated; however, potential adverse effects include headache, abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea.
Long-term use should be monitored due to risks such as vitamin B12 deficiency, hypomagnesemia, and increased susceptibility to gastrointestinal infections. Omecept 20 should be administered as prescribed by a healthcare professional, typically once daily before meals. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic impairment or those on concomitant medications metabolized via the cytochrome P450 system.
Regular follow-up is recommended to assess therapeutic response and adjust dosage accordingly.
